Jan D. Gravel
Jan Day Gravel is the principal of the Janus Development Group, a firm
specializing in strategic consulting and leadership development for
business, industry and communities. Jan focuses on the development of
successful collaborations in complex, dynamic environments.
Certified in principle-centered negotiation, she received a Masters of
Arts in Conflict Resolution from
Antioch University
in Ohio. Her thesis is based upon the EmergeneticsĀ® model
and its application to the creation of coalitions on public policy issues.
Jan is the only person in the United States to serve as the executive
director for five independent community leadership programs. Her work in
community coalitions has dealt with education, environment, government,
and the judiciary. She facilitated the first Environmental Justice panels
initiated by the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality.
Jan has served as vice president of the board of the U.S. National Senior
Sports Organization, and was vice-chair of the local organizing committee
which hosted the 1993 USNSO competition that attracted over 7,000 competitors.
In 1997, the
Baton Rouge Business Report recognized her as one of the "Top 25
Women for 1997."
